Day 12
Interoffice Memorandum
Further actions have been taken to contain costs following our quarter-end financial results and in response to certain questions stemming from the previously distributed initiatives:
Cafeteria:
1. Management has come to understand that all by replacing all natural sweeteners (i.e., sugar and honey) with high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), we can cut the food cost of baked goods by 2% which is hugely substantial.
2. Similarly, we will be replacing our Fry-o-later oil with partially hydrogenated soybean oil.
3. While we recognize that HFCS and partially hydrogenated soybean oil have received ample negative attention in the media, our research proves this to be unsubstantiated. Corn syrup is made from corn, which is totally natural, as are soybeans. Sugar from corn is much healthier than sugar from sugar cane; this is just common sense. And oil from soybeans is healthier than oil from olives because soybeans are a bean, and we think olives might be a nut. And who even knows where canola oil, which is supposed to be healthy, comes from? Management has yet to discover what a canola is or where it is grown.
We trust that employees will embrace these and other cost savings initiatives moving forward. Our savings are your gain.
