“Mary, get Miss Barry on the phone. Now.”
“Right away,” Mary responds.
“Yes sir?” Miss Barry asks.
“What in the hell is going on? There seem to be some pre-emptive strikes going on here. People are missing, and some of the plebes are noticing.”
Miss Barry is silent.
“Well?”
“I was hungry.”
“Well, get control of yourself, woman. We can’t have people disappearing for no apparent reason. There has to be a formal announcement, severance packages drawn up, lay-off workshops…”
And all that stupid crying, thinks Miss Barry.
“Don’t you understand that there is a formal process to getting rid of useless people? Need I explain everything to you?”

I HATE this part of my job.I don’t know why they don’t make maintenance do this crap. No, make the financial guy do it. He’s quiet. He won’t snitch. We trust him with numbers; we can trust him with the bodies. I’m being taken advantage of. I am sick and tired of being used. I don’t get paid enough for this. I should tell.
I am going to steal pens tonight. That’ll show ‘em.

About Zombies At Work

As I approach my car, my mood begins to elevate. Fresh air. Sunshine. As I feel increasingly good, I begin to wonder if I am experiencing some form of bipolarity -- if mental illness is a side effect of corporate life.

I will learn that it is. It is dangerous, can be chronic…even fatal. It is called corporate zombism.
